.

“Nico de Sanctis embodies within himself the poetics of a wild fantasia, a libratory pursuit that frees his perspective, enabling him to wander between doubting reason and courting the subliminal mutations of imaginative points of view.

He goes back and forth between sketch and dream and vice-versa, finding a particular elective affinity in the confirmation of historical forerunners, more fantastical than surreal, yet always bearing the standard of metaphysical participation in the reality of the world as it constructs itself…

…While staying faithful to the scaffolding of traditional methods of representation (i.e. image juxtaposed on a textual referent), he succeeds in ably mastering certain frenzy in his art, while eluding the risk relinquishing himself to pure illustrative gratification. “

“… Surrealism is now no longer a movement in its own right. There are artists whose main components are dreams, the unconscious, symbols, archetypes. Nico de Sanctis belongs to these.

He principally carries out a dialogue through his images… He evokes images with an agile design, quick but nonetheless certain (in which the critic Alberico Sala has noted a association to Dufy) multiplying the apparitions, the metamorphoses, the beings of fairy tales, the scenarios of strange stories, the mixing of real characters and invented…”

(Venezia)

“… The paintings by de Sanctis are not pieces of furniture, nor are created – as Borsato would say – by a third rate painter belonging to the C Series.  The problem is that its not even considered work belonging to the A Series.  It is hard to classify his work is deserving of a deep analysis every time; it’s in a series of its own. His painting comes from an immense borderless space embracing both play and dream.

He disseminates imagery from memories softly immersed in light and reproduced in a kaleidoscope in a timeless dimension.

His kind of art requires new parameters of discussion, confrontation, dialogue and time: a rarity this day in age and in the cultural homogenisation we find ourselves in.”  (Venice)
